Building the Future of IECA Together

AS THIS ISSUE OF Environmental Connection reaches you, IECA is entering an important
period of reflection, planning, and growth.

In July, IECA’s Executive Committee and staff gathered for a strategic planning retreat focused
on the future of our association. Strategic planning is more than establishing goals for the next few
years; it is an opportunity to examine how our industry is evolving, identify where we can create
the greatest impact, and ensure that IECA remains positioned to serve our members and profession
for decades to come.

One theme has emerged consistently in our discussions about the future of IECA: our responsibility
to strengthen the value we provide to our members while continuing to expand our global
reach and influence.

For members, this means continuing to invest in the programs, education, networking opportunities, and professional resources that support you throughout your career. We recognize that membership must deliver clear and meaningful value, and we remain committed to ensuring that IECA continues to be the trusted professional home for erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and environmental stewardship professionals around the world.

At the same time, we are looking beyond traditional boundaries to increase our collective
impact. Environmental challenges don’t stop at state lines or national borders, and neither should
our collaboration. By strengthening IECA’s global partnerships and expanding opportunities for
knowledge-sharing across regions, disciplines, and industries, the association can better support
members while advancing the profession worldwide.

This commitment to connection and collaboration will continue as we gather at IECA’s regional
conferences this fall. These events provide invaluable opportunities to learn from one another,
strengthen professional relationships, and bring innovative solutions back to the communities we
serve. They also serve as important reminders that while our members work in diverse environments around the world, we share a common mission.

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome you to the 2027 IECA Annual Conference and
Expo in Reno, Nevada, Feb. 21–24, 2027, colocated with the Geosynthetics Materials Association
(GMA). This unique opportunity to bring together professionals from related industries reflects
our belief that collaboration drives innovation and strengthens our collective ability to address
complex environmental challenges.

The future of IECA is being built intentionally, thoughtfully, and together. I am grateful for the
dedication of our members, volunteers, chapter leaders, industry partners, and staff who continue
to shape this organization and our profession every day.

Thank you for your continued engagement, trust, and commitment to IECA. I look forward to
sharing more about our strategic vision in the months ahead and to seeing many of you this fall
and in Reno.
